About the Role
The role will lead the development, localization, and delivery of Forum content and programming in China across priority systems, including:
• Health and Healthcare
• Financial and Monetary Systems
• Consumption and the Experiential Economy
The role acts as a critical bridge between global priorities and regional realities, ensuring that Forum initiatives are contextually relevant, insight-driven, and embedded within strong multistakeholder ecosystems.
A core expectation is the ability to apply World Economic Forum methodologies (content development, high-level convening, and ecosystem building) across systems, while identifying cross-cutting themes such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence and sustainability.
Job Location
This position is based in the World Economic Forum’s Beijing Representative Office.
Key Responsibilities
1. Content Leadership, Localization & Insight Generation
• Act as the primary China focal point for assigned Forum Centres, ensuring effective localization of global initiatives into the Chinese context
• Translate China-specific priorities, insights, and policy developments into the Forum’s global agenda and content pipeline
• Lead the planning and execution of Forum activities in China (and selectively regionally), ensuring delivery against strategic objectives, timelines, and quality standards
• Curate and produce high-quality content and insights originating from China (reports, briefings, roundtables, knowledge outputs)
• Ensure content relevance by aligning global priorities with local stakeholder needs and emerging trends
2. Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement
• Build and manage trusted relationships with key stakeholders (government, business, academia, innovators), in close coordination with Business Engagement (BE) and Government Engagement (GE) teams
• Expand and diversify the stakeholder network, with particular focus on underdeveloped segments (e.g. academia, global companies)
• Contribute to partner development and retention by embedding content and programming into stakeholder value propositions
• Develop and activate regional communities aligned with thematic priorities (including mapping, outreach, and engagement of public and private sector leaders)
• Ensure strong stakeholder continuity through disciplined follow-ups, account awareness, and engagement tracking
3. Programme Delivery & Cross-Team Integration
• Lead the design and delivery of events, dialogues, and contributions to regional and global Forum programming
• Coordinate closely with internal teams (Centres, BE, GE, Regional teams) to ensure alignment and integration across activities
• Ensure that China-based activities are effectively connected to and visible within the broader Forum platform.
• Support contributions from China stakeholders into global Forum events and initiatives.
4. Cross-System Integration (enabling levers)
• Identify and develop intersections across systems, including:• AI and digital transformation across industries
• The role of finance in enabling innovation in health and consumption
• Contribute to shaping integrated narratives that reflect system-level transformation
• Position China as a source of innovation and insight across these domains
5. Strategic Coordination
Provide day-to-day management, ensuring high standards of execution and professional development.
• Drive operational excellence across activities (planning, reporting, stakeholder management discipline).
• Maintain strong coordination with global teams, including regular communication, alignment on priorities, and contribution to global workstreams.
• Contribute to shaping the Beijing office’s strategic direction and thematic priorities.
6. Ad-hoc / cross-Forum/ teams work or activities
• Support or Lead on ad-hoc sprint projects that may arise from Global Centres.
• Support or Lead on ad-hoc events that may arise from Global Centres.
Success Measures
• Content Impact: Evidence of China-generated insights contributing to Forum outputs and being used by stakeholders (e.g. cited, referenced, informing policy or industry discussions)
• Localization Quality: Effectiveness in translating global initiatives into meaningful regional impact
• Stakeholder Outcomes: Growth in network, strength of relationships, and contribution to partner retention/development
• Integration with Global Centres: Visibility and uptake of Beijing contributions within global Forum work
• Integration with Beijing teams: delivering value to partners in collaboration with other teams in the Beijing Office.
• Execution Excellence: Quality, timeliness, and consistency of programme delivery and stakeholder management
Desired qualification and experience
• Experience: 8+ years with reputable organisations. Strategy consulting experience is a strong plus.
• Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field (health, finance, economics, policy, AI, sustainability, innovation, digital transformation). While we do not restrict to any specific major, we expect candidates to demonstrate strong relevance to one or more of our priority systems, including health and healthcare, financial and monetary systems, consumption and the experiential economy, as well as cross‑cutting areas such as AI, digital transformation, sustainability, policy, economics, or innovation.
• Language: Near‑native fluency in both English and Mandarin.
• Domain Expertise: Proven experience in at least one priority system (healthcare, financial/monetary, consumption/experiential), plus ability to gain fluency in adjacent areas.
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical and content development; stakeholder management across public/private sectors; disciplined execution in matrixed global environments.
• China–Global Bridge: Deep understanding of China’s policy/business/innovation landscape; skilled at two‑way interpretation between Chinese and international priorities; culturally sensitive; able to work autonomously while staying aligned with global teams.
